PENERAPAN TEKNIK MENYUSUI UNTUK MENINGKATKAN EFEKTIVITAS LAKTASI MENGGUNAKAN PENILAIAN LATCH PADA IBU NIFAS PRIMIPARA DI RUMAH SAKIT TK III DR. BRATANATA JAMBI

ABSTRAK

Latar Belakang: Air Susu Ibu (ASI) eksklusif merupakan nutrisi terbaik bagi bayi dan berperan penting dalam meningkatkan kesehatan serta menurunkan angka morbiditas dan mortalitas bayi. Salah satu faktor yang memengaruhi keberhasilan menyusui adalah teknik menyusui yang benar. Ibu primipara sering mengalami kesulitan dalam menyusui karena kurangnya pengalaman dan pengetahuan mengenai teknik menyusui yang tepat. Setelah dilakukan penerapan teknik menyusui, terjadi peningkatan efektivitas laktasi menggunakan penilaian LATCH dari skor 6 menjadi skor 10.
Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penerapan teknik menyusui menggunakan metode LATCH untuk meningkatkan efektivitas laktasi pada ibu nifas primipara di Rumah Sakit TK III Dr. Bratanata Jambi.
Metode : Penelitian ini menggunakan desain studi kasus dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Subjek penelitian adalah ibu nifas primipara yang mengalami kesulitan dalam teknik menyusui. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan penilaian skor LATCH sebelum dan sesudah intervensi.
Hasil : Penerapan teknik menyusui menggunakan metode LATCH meningkatkan efektivitas laktasi pada ibu nifas primipara. Hal tersebut ditunjukkan dengan peningkatan skor LATCH dari 6 menjadi 10, disertai perbaikan posisi dan perlekatan bayi, peningkatan kenyamanan ibu, serta keberhasilan pemberian ASI.
Kesimpulan : Berdasarkan hasil penerapan teknik menyusui menggunakan penilaian LATCH, dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode LATCH efektif dalam meningkatkan efektivitas laktasi pada ibu nifas primipara. Penerapan metode ini mampu memperbaiki teknik perlekatan bayi pada payudara, meningkatkan kenyamanan dan kepercayaan diri ibu selama menyusui, serta membantu meningkatkan kelancaran produksi ASI.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Exclusive breastfeeding is the best source of nutrition for infants and plays an important role in improving health while reducing infant morbidity and mortality. One of the factors influencing successful breastfeeding is the use of proper breastfeeding techniques. Primiparous mothers often experience difficulties in breastfeeding due to limited knowledge and experience regarding appropriate breastfeeding techniques. Following the implementation of breastfeeding techniques, lactation effectiveness improved, as indicated by an increase in the LATCH assessment score from 6 to 10.
Objective: This study aimed to determine the implementation of breastfeeding techniques using the LATCH assessment to improve lactation effectiveness among primiparous postpartum mothers at TK III Dr. Bratanata Hospital, Jambi.
Methods: This study employed a descriptive case study design. The subjects were primiparous postpartum mothers who experienced difficulties with breastfeeding techniques. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and LATCH score assessments before and after the intervention.
Results : The implementation of breastfeeding techniques using the LATCH assessment improved lactation effectiveness among primiparous postpartum mothers. This was demonstrated by an increase in the LATCH score from 6 to 10, accompanied by improved infant positioning and latch-on technique, increased maternal comfort, and successful breastfeeding.
Conclusion: Based on the implementation of breastfeeding techniques using the LATCH assessment, it can be concluded that the LATCH method effectively improves lactation effectiveness in primiparous postpartum mothers. The method enhances infant latch-on technique, increases maternal comfort and confidence during breastfeeding, and helps improve breast milk production.
