KOMPRES SERAI HANGAT MENGURANGI NYERI RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS PADA USIA LANJUT DI PANTI SOSIAL TRESNA WERDHA BUDI LUHUR KOTA JAMBI TAHUN 2023

ABSTRAK

Latar Belakang : Rheumatoid Arthritis adalah penyakit autoimun yang menyerang persendian. Penyakit tersebut menyebabkan peradangan pada persendian, jaringan di sekitar persendian, dan dapat mempengaruhi organ lain di dalam tubuh, seperti kulit dan paru-paru. Penanganan nyeri pada Rheumatoid Artritis ada dua jenis, yaitu penatalaksanaan obat (obat-obatan) dan penatalaksanaan non obat. Secara teoritis, kompres serai hangat bertujuan untuk melebarkan pembuluh darah sehingga meningkatkan sirkulasi untuk meredakan nyeri akibat spasme otot atau kekakuan otot dan sendi.
Tujuan : Diketahuinya Pengaruh Penerapan Kompres Serai Hangat Dalam Mengurangi Nyeri Rheumatoid Arthritis Pada Usia Lanjut Di Panti Sosial Tresna Werdha Budi Luhur Kota Jambi.
Metode : Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan rancangan studi kasus dengan jumlah sampel 2 orang lansia. Digunakan kompres serai hangat dan dilakukan perbandingan sebelum dan sesudah kompres serai hangat dan dilakukan dipanti sosial tresna werdha budi luhur kota jambi.
Hasil : Hasil diperoleh dengan menggunakan lembaran observasi sebelum dan sesudah dilakukan kompres serai hangat, pada hari pertama sampai hari ketiga responden pertama mengalami penurunan nyeri dari skala 4 sampai 1 sedangkan responden kedua juga mengalami penurunan nyeri dari skala 5 sampai 1.
Kesimpulan : Hal ini membuktikan bahwa Kompres Serai Hangat dapat mengurangi intensitas nyeri rheumatoid arthtritis pada usia lanjut.

ABSTRACT

Background: Rheumatoid Arthritis is an autoimmune disease that attacks the joints. The disease causes inflammation in the joints, the tissues around the joints, and can affect other organs in the body, such as the skin and lungs. There are two types of pain management in Rheumatoid Arthritis, namely drug management (drugs) and non-drug management. Theoretically, warm lemongrass compresses aim to dilate blood vessels thereby increasing circulation to relieve pain due to muscle spasms or stiffness of muscles and joints.
Objective: To know the effect of applying warm lemongrass compresses in reducing rheumatoid arthritis pain in the elderly at the Social Housing Tresna Werdha Budi Luhur, Jambi City.
Methods: This study used a descriptive method with a case study design with a sample size of 2 elderly people. Warm lemongrass compresses were used and a comparison was made before and after the warm lemongrass compress and it was carried out at the Social Housing Tresna Werdha Budi Mulia, Jambi City.
Results: The results were obtained using observation sheets before and after warm lemongrass compresses, on the first day to the third day the first respondent experienced a decrease in pain from a scale of 4 to 1 while the second respondent also experienced a decrease in pain from a scale of 5 to 1.
Conclusion: This proves that warm lemongrass compresses can reduce the intensity of rheumatoid arthritis pain in the elderly.
